First steps

-

Obtain a GPS signal (see also 'Use a GPS intermediate driver')

-

Download maps for your current position (on PC using PC downloader, navigate to the desired area, select it and download all maps, then copy all maps to your mobile phone)

-

Make tracks, set waypoints, edit its names and export to GPX

-

Use Google Earth, MapSource or your favorite software to load GPX files

How to create own translation

-

Download a common template for your version from the download section

-

Change the 'lang' attribute to your language

-

Translate all 'string' elements, leaving keys not translated. Important: don't change values between curly brackets

-

Save the xml file to 'Lang' folder, rename it if necessary

-

Select your language in UI settings and restart the program

-

Check the lost.xml file in 'Lang' folder. If the file exists it will contain missed strings

Some tips for the main screen

-

Touch on the speed display to switch the speed mode

-

Values marked in red indicate a poor GPS accuracy. You can adjust the minimal DOP values on GPS settings page

Some general tips for using GPS

-

Turn on the GPS device at least 5 to 10 minutes before you plan to use the device and leave it in an area where it can pickup satellite signals

Some tips for download

You have three download options:

-

Download around the current position. If the GPS signal is not available, last known position will be taken

-

Download around the current or background track

-

Download around the download point. The download point can be set on map view

You can choose a map set:

-

Zoom levels 6 - 9

-

Zoom levels 10-15

-

Zoom level 16

-

Zoom level 17 (pretty large amount of data)

You can cancel a download process and restart it. Nothing will be lost, downloaded maps will be used while missing maps won't be shown.

Maps need megabytes on your data storage so it might be a good idea to keep the map sets on a flash card.

Known problems

-

Some devices cannot get a signal:

     Use a GPS intermediate driver:

-

Some devices don't display an altitude while coords, speed, ... are displayed:

There might be a problem with the implementation of the intermediate driver. Ask about the newest firmware.
